This work presents a visual representation of an internal psychological state saturated with pain, confusion, and emotional distress, all tightly constrained by superimposed and seemingly intractable problems. These internal states are rooted in the "Emotional Cycle of Raga, Dosa, and Moha" (Lust, Aversion/Anger, and Delusion)—the foundation of akusala karma (unwholesome actions) that gradually forms and oppresses the self. This oppression reduces these feelings to mere "shadows" beneath society's power structure, compelling distress, rage, and disappointment to be concealed in an unseen domain.
I utilized the creative process as a space for liberation and catharsis for these bottled-up emotions, realized through three-dimensional oil paintings on sheer, overlapping fabric. This layering forms the shape of a "Hand" giving the middle finger, seated on a wheelchair. This symbol acts as a direct, explicit curse, while also reflecting the anger, frustration, and disappointment that cannot be verbally expressed in a society where human vulnerability is normalized amid abnormality. It reflects a deep-seated pain intertwined with a faint glimmer of hope, amidst a destiny that must be endured and coexisted with endlessly.
